A submission of this quality level requires a proper title. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide one so we will roll with that for the time being.

A fantastic portrait commission that I got from
, featuring my character Baracca "Bracca" Garghan: A prince of a remote island nation turned innkeeper who is in self imposed exile after his father - the current ruler of his old island home - Vergal Drazul Garghan, returned home from a lengthy travel to another world. Changed however, with rather hostile intentions towards his dear old son Bracca, forcing the already cursed prince to seek solace from and start a new life on the main continent of the world they inhabit.
Bracca himself also belongs to a race of shapeshifting humanoids, who were accidentally created when human slaves rioted against their High-Elf overlords on the island of Geragha many hundred years ago. The ensuing riots resulted in a magical doomsday weapon of sorts crashing into an exposed river of raw magical energy, the ensuing explosion of which devoured both human slaves, elf druids originally capable of shapeshifting, not to mention all but one High-Elf on the island turning to dust. From this cataclysmic event crawled forth creatures that looked both human, but who were also able to take on animalistic traits or even full animal forms as they pleased, shifting back and forth between these forms and states of being as if it had always been natural to them.
What you see in the portrait however is the result of a dark, unholy god meeting with Bracca in his youth, back before his father Vergal left to the another world. The meeting left Bracca cursed, tearing away from him his ability to turn completely human and leaving him permanently in a state between human and his animal form of a white tiger. Though he is still, when he so desires, able to take on a full tiger form. Regardless of this, the ears, tail, white skin and fluff do create some rather unfortunate social situations for him at times.
He also carries a bit of High-Elf blood in him, seeing as how his mother was the daughter of the tyrannical High-Elf ruler, Haraderth, who was the only survivor of the magical cataclysm. His mother in question - Lorenei Garghan - however had an elven mother, making her half High-elf herself.
Both Bracca and Vergal (not to mention Lorenei to some degree) will be playing important roles in the series of books that I am (slowly) writing currently. The first drafts of which will be uploaded online to few different locations than FA at some point, methinks.
I am extremely satisfied with the quality of this commission and the stunning end result, despite some rather foolish concerns on my part early on in the sketching phase. During which that, I feel, I might have acted a bit too nitpicky regarding some parts. However, Gallivant was an absolute delight to work with and the final result is beautiful. I can only hope she did not find me an absoltue bore and bother during the sketching phase, haha!
I am also delighted that I could offer her a character to work with that not only she enjoyed working on, but one that also offered her new things to try and new things that she learned from, according to herself. As an aspiring writer with no other actual artistic skills, it warms my heart to know that the characters I have created can help other artists to learn new things and thus get better in their own craft. Seeing my creations turn from words to actual characters on my monitor is naturally a welcome addition to that.
