I was sketching a badger today and discovered that while I had a nice ratel montage reference sheet, I didn't have one for Taxus (north american) badgers. Fixed!

It turns out there are badgers like this living quite near me. I've never seen a live one but I've seen two that were killed by cars.

They don't generally make good pets. They are wild animals, after all. One of our presidents was given one and it was eventually banished from the White House when it began hissing like a teakettle and nipping people's ankles. I'm sure there are a few pet badgers out there, though.

The upper pic with the shorter claws is a hindpaw, the lower ones with longer claws are forepaws. Badger claws are concave on the underside so they serve as shovels for the little beastie. 83

I've only seen one live Taxus, in the Living Desert zoo in Palm Springs, but she was very cute. I'm told you can pet her, too, but don't try it unless someone else confirms that. 83
