A few months ago I was shown an image that a friend wanted edited and to be used as an avatar. I jumped at the opportunity to create said avatar, with a fitting background.

As the game used images with low-resolution I was not worried about the fact I did not have a higher quality cat to work with, but I am still somewhat disappointed that you can see the pixels when you zoom in (alas, not a miracle worker).

I would also like to note the cat is not my original art, and neither is the arena in the background. I could not find the authors of either of these images (but it would be great if any of you could provide the details of that).

"But wait, isn't this in any way your original work?"

The short answer is, I had to crop out the cat, change his fur color, put him onto the background and add some special effects. A remix, if you will, and I rather liked the end effect.

The original cat image comes from a book named: Hi-Yah!: How to Draw Fantastic Martial Arts Comics by Steve Miller. The image itself was created by Brett Booth and Colored by "Jess".

And I used Gimp to edit the images and glue them together.
