My first serious attempt at drawing in a while. I was going to go back and color it better but I merged the layers and didn't realize it until later, so test colors with the drawing brush it is.

This is a character in a story I'm working on. His name is Zan and this drawing is a snapshot from one of the more important moments of his life and a major turning point in his backstory.

He's about thirteen (I need to work on drawing younger people) and has woken up to find he'll never see out of his right eye again. Upset, in pain, feverish, and only half remembering why he's been injured, Zan is told to look at his hands.

For the first time, Zan is made aware that he is capable of magic.
