Here we have Hoss getting set for an adventure, She works for a museum, so she's often sent out to dangerous dig sights to find valuable artifacts and the tombs of kings long past.
as for the Crossbow? well you never know what you're going to run into while you explore those kinds of places.
It also seems she's decided that contact lenses are the way to go while on the job.
