Loaded BLTs!!!
Yeah, fixed some killer BLTs for dinner tonight. Not wanting the traditional BLT with bacon, lettuce and tomato on white bread, I decided to go all out for a flavor and texture experience...
BLTs from hell! And these guys aren't for the weak bellied diners either.
Here is what I used and did...
Thick cut peppered bacon
Beefsteak tomatoes
Red and green leaf romaine lettuce
Sweet white onions
Bread and butter pickle planks
Triple jack cheese with Ghost pepper
Cheddar Chipoltle cheese
Sweet and Spicy sauce
Miracle Whip
Sesame seed hamburger buns
You know the drill with the basic prep...
slice the onions and tomatoes and place then in bowls, trim the lettuce. And here is the wonderful part, grill the bacon as the bacon grease will fall into the catch pan and thus reducing shrinkage dramatically.
Grilling the bacon is healthier if you are trying to cut down on fat and grease intake instead of frying the bacon in a skillet. I use an electric counter top grill for pretty much everything (Grilled cheese, meats, etc) except for eggs.
When the bacon is nearly done, spread Miracle Whip on crown and base of the bun and drizzle the sweet and spicy sauce on the crown. Now the fun part... place a slice of cheddar chipoltle cheese on the bun base, two slice of bread and butter pickle planks, a slice of triple jack ghost pepper cheese, 4-6 slices of bacon, 2-4 leaf of red and green romaine lettuce, 2 slices of tomato and finally the crown. Once the sandwich is done, chow down and enjoy.
sadly for me, I am going to pay for this in a few hours with a nasty case of heartburn. And well worth it.
