'M just happens to look like a Charizard (a giant one according to the pokedex) it's significant in a few ways mostly that it's pokemon (FF) 255 and is used for a lot of special programming like the cancel button in the menus. It can also fuse pokemon together, and self replicate at the same time. (Two pokemon become one, and the empty space becomes another 'M).
