Test upload.
First thing I've doodled in at minimum 2-3 years. I started with the yinglet on the far left, doodling on a sticky note while working. Then I doodled the bigger guy on the left during my lunch break. I touched it up a bit when I got home, on the right, along with another doodle off-screen. Pretty good for barely doing anything serious in a decade (see below).
I only have a camera to get pics of my doodles, unfortunately. After 10 years with little to no motivation to draw anymore after some shit, Valsalia's Out of Placers comic and yinglet species inspired me enough to start drawing again. His yinglets are the first species I actually kinda feel a connection with personality-wise. I have a whole page full of doodles, and I'd like that to be my first real submission, but for now, a test upload. I've never uploaded anything here before, or anywhere in a decade.
So yeah, 10 years ago is the last time I was truly motivated to draw a lot, when I bought a tablet pen and everything and spent hours just drawing. 5 years ago is when I last practiced doodling a character's head but was never quite right, and 2 or 3 years ago I drew something for the first Splatfest, I forgot when it was... I may or may not show that off someday.

Hey, this is really good, especially for being the first thing drawn in so long! Their headshape and weirdass anatomy can be tough to get right. Glad you find these little guys interesting enough to want to draw them!
On the note of drawing and long breaks, half the reason I started OOPs was because I'd taken a long break myself, and noticed my skills had gotten all rusty, so I needed to give myself a project to keep myself drawing/improving regularly. Art is very similar to a second language; if it's not used regularly, the brain decides it's less important to keep around and begins to slowly forget the details.
Definitely keep drawing, because you've clearly got a good eye for art and anatomy construction!

Thanks for checkin' this out and leaving the comment, and sorry if I type a lot sometimes!
I've always been a fan of strange looking fantasy creatures that look cool... or funny... or both (here's lookin' at you, Mizutsune, you cool weird flower bird-dragon). : p I feel very connected to yinglets because they have a lot of my IRL personality traits, so that's another reason I want to draw them.
As for my art, for me, I've always had very good talent for art (and music), but I never really knew or got into it until I was motivated to try by something special... at the time... but like I said, some crap happened and took all my motivation away, which sucked. But then your comic just really made me want to draw them, and I have to say again that it feels so natural drawing them.
I have most of a sheet of paper covered in head doodles now. I practiced tons of facial expressions from sad to angry, happy, inquisitive, EEEEEE, and some silly stuff, and one completed full drawing I made that's gonna hit the heart strings a bit with a short story to go with it in relation to your world. A little fannon, I suppose.
Drawing has become very fun because of their expressions, I find myself snickering to my own work. I've been getting better and better, too. I just finished doodling Vizlet (well, her head, I'm mostly practicing the head, ears, and nose) for the first time entirely from memory, no references, and it damn near looks official. However, hair is not something I've ever tried drawing before, so I need to figure out how to do those filler lines that make it look like long hair.
Thanks again for creating the OOPs and yinglets, and keep checking in, I'll let you know when I post stuff. I have tons of ideas in my head now, a few short comic ideas, too, even something I would love to animate someday.
Oh, and in case ya didn't see my other comment, my avatar is also one of my doodles. He's looking at the nebula and stars in the sky saying a very yinglet-y thing to say: "Zhe sky is made of maaaagiic...". Still makes me chuckle.

I'll get around to practicing hair sometime. I've mostly been practicing heads, haven't really needed to practice body form, but I will be practicing their hands and feet after I'm done with... well...
I have this piece of printer paper I've been doodling on nearly completely full, doodling when I have time, and I really want to scan it and show it... but yet, there's still space to fill... I must fill it with yinglets. : P It's almost full, I've just started on the 38th practice doodle (just on this) and this page has turned into an excellent example of skill progression. Feeling quite happy and kinda amazed that what I've drawn actually came from my own hands. I can't wait to show you what you've inspired.
EDIT: I'm uploading a new avatar as a teaser... personal caption for the new av is "That feeling when your own art makes you laugh and smile". I hope I get it up before you see this comment.

The text in my av is the title of this Chocobo's Dungeon song, "Let's have a dream." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wda89u9fIBA
Because I thought of that doodle (which I draw before the song) as soon as I heard this come up in my playlist and imagined a yinglet dancing around to it.
