Try playing with contrast options in your image editor (use GIMP if you haven't got anything decent). It'll help even out the lines if your scan/pencil create an inconsistent tone.

Unfortunately I use a iPhone 4 as a art recording device.
But tilting the paper around can usually create acceptable lighting.
I just used the image I had already taken awhile ago.

Even uploading them on my computer and messing with the rotation didn't work.
The ones I have uploaded I fixed by overwriting them by saving them at different tilts on my phone, but that doesn't always work.

If you're using Windows, try opening in Paint, then re-saving under a new name. That should wipe out the meta data in your jpeg. If you're on a Mac, you can try cropping it in photos after fixing the rotation. That usually updates the meta data sufficiently.
