Apologies in advance to those who either find musical theater distasteful, or were hoping for something less morose... or even better performed. I don't have the right voice for this song so this is just a guide for a future, more accomplished baritone.
I'd polish it a bit more but I really just want to get out of the house and regain my perspective at this precise moment.

YAY! This is Jolly Good!
Personally, I like Musical Theatre just fine, and this piece is no exception.
I think your voice works well for this piece, and the audio quality is peachy. I could really use the tips on recording technique, so I have to ask how you recorded such a good vocal track?

aw thanks...
I've managed to collect some halfway decent audio gear over the years. I use an inexpensive Rode NT-1 microphone but I drive it with a nice Focusrite preamp; I also recently got a Blue mesh screen so I can really get up close without P-popping. For this particular demo I was accompanying myself on digital piano, so there are a couple of places I messed up and had to punch in, which is a bit odd when working with recording MIDI and audio simultaneously. I don't have my good mic stand here at the moment, so I had it off to the side like Fats Domino.
There are better ways to work, but I was in one of those "just get it done" moods.

Not so much, not because I don't think it would be a good idea, but I think that relative unknowns like my writing partner and myself would suffer a nightmare of legal ramifications which might choke the project in infancy.
Right now the idea is that the present-day inhabitants of Animal Farm are coming to terms with their world-famous, storied history in order to create a theater piece (yes, it's theater about theater, shoot me now, please). There are five animals trying their best to recreate their ancestors, and a human pianist who has been begrudgingly hired to help out. You wouldn't know it from the songs I've posted so far, but the show is actually meant to be a comedy.
And yes, read the book; the politics have become a bit dated, but the satire is spot-on.

Don't imagine that the thought hasn't crossed my mind...
Seriously, it would be impossible at this point to oversell the project anyway. We need all the performances, all the publicity, all the word of mouth that we can possibly muster. For me it makes sense to give away rough demos on the internet; not only does it familiarize people with the songs (not a bad thing when you're trying to get people to attend a musical) but then they get to see how the material morphed and evolved over time.
Still, caution is advised. The thing I don't want to oversell to the furry fandom is the anthropomorphic aspect. Yes, we do have animal characters. But because they have to act out a rather broad range of emotion and dexterous tasks over a 60-minute period, the costuming will necessarily have to be spare and utilitarian. We can't obscure our actors' faces under fursuit heads nor lumber their hands with floofy paws or hard hooves. For the most part, they simply have to act their respective species.
My touchstone for this project is the guy who played Horton in the tour of Seussical. He was a regular-looking, middle-aged chunky guy who wore a gray sweatshirt and occasionally swung his arm around in front of him like a trunk. But he was the best elephant you could possibly hope for. He completely stole the show and won everyone over with his heart, simplicity, and pathos.
