In medieval times, death was usually a harsh and/or swift thing. People depicted the version of death that they new best. I'm just trying to show it for what it is: not an object of fear, more of an inevitable part of life. As we all know life is neither good nor bad. It just is. Why can't death be so as well?
Not sure which one I like more. But you know, I've always thought that it was odd when Death is shown as an evil or malevolent force. It's natural to associate evil with death, but dying itself is just a natural force. Like nature, it's not malevolent, but is impartial to everything.
