Second submissions to Fur Affinity. This is the first of many household symbols from the story The Consequence of magic which I will be uploading sometime later.
Family/Household: Fhena (fae-na)
Races/Species: Humans, elves, some dwarves, fairies, faes, wood elves, dragons
Casters: Mages, witches, warlocks, drow, dragons, high mage, archmage, druid
Description: The Fhena are magical users of light, capable of using and bending the rays of the sun into any shape, form or matter they please. While the use of this type of magic can be very straining on the caster, the spells are very powerful and can turn the tide in battle at any time as well as in a retreat. The physicality, let alone mentality needed to wield this magic takes decades of practice, honing the mind so that pain does not distract the body from its task. Magical users of this family usually live very cautious and secluded lives as those who seek to gain their power constantly search for the secret to bending the light of the sun to their will. Even though light magic is very powerful, the side effects are the most pronounced, lasting some weeks or a month before recovery. Family members typically only send their most gifted children with the talent to bend light and sun rays to school to train to become a master. Ones who do make it to old age are revered and well respected within the community of magical creatures and users.
History: One of the last and greatest houses of magical creatures and users that still exist in this day and age of technological superiority. The Fhena are a strong and proud family, choosing dedication and protection above all else. Their morals, while they may seem tacky or odd to others, are what has kept them alive and together for so long. Their magic is powerful, used for important strategic battles or to change the tide in a war. Because of the level of magic they hold, their life spans are only 2/3's or 3/4's what they normally would be and that is only if they use it regularly. The Fhena have been known to become meticulous about whom they send to battle or in times of war, since the use of their magic burns up their life force, the family usually dwindles dangerously low if heavily depended upon.
Though their lives are short, they are a treasure trove of knowledge, gaining, or feeling through the energy contained within the light they wield of everything it has seen or felt itself. Parents in the Fhena family usually take positions as leaders or teachers, handing down valuable information to the next generation. Even if they might seem selfish at times, only caring for close relatives and family of the same blood, does not mean they would be glad to defend another's children or family if it left both parties satisfied and for the good of the magical race.
The only family they are at odds against are the Pivec, magical users of shadow. They may not see eye to eye or agree on many things that seem best for the magical race, but when a powerful enough foes arises, their duel combos are devastating. Every once in a lifetime about 500-750 years, there is a child that can wield both light and shadow. His life force is unique, as it does not burn up by using his light magic, nor vanish with his shadow. The children of combined light and shadow users are revered for their knowledge and cunning on the battlefield, especially against the dark side, evil creatures controlled by an unknown force to eradicate any and all source of magic in the world.
Locations: The Fhena deem to live in warm or tropical environments where it is almost always hot out or warm. Family members with especially strong magic live near the equator or in deserts. Though they may be miles or continents apart, they always keep intact with one another to alert them if anything is happening.
Size: The Fhena household is not divided up into separate levels of abilities or social appearance; rather, they live in small, tight-knit groups all over the world. Up to seven members can live together in one area, though they come together in time of need to over twenty. Just one user can hold their own against a few dozen dark sides, depending on the variety they race. While they hold family connections and dedication and protection, they are still sympathetic to others who can get on their good side.
(Here you go, one family down, six more to go. Tell me if you want to hear anything else or if you think I forgot something, otherwise fave, vote and comment if you liked it.)
