In today's episode, we see the Master of Elfhame continue on his journey to Westpocket, the small realm that had been the site of a notable visit by his grand-sire (as related to him by Marshal Roland, who had been his direct commander). And indeed, one sees traces of his kin from the Vale on the trail there.
He meets up with his first native of that demense, and he's in for a few mild surprises; one of them being how road-work is advertised in Westpocket...

For the record: WW4 was WW5's uncle, not his father. We've seen references to Forrest Winterbough, WW5's father and WW4's younger brother, and two older brothers of WW5. All four of those bucks fell at Skull Forest. WW4 does not appear to have been married, and had no known offspring. He was also (in one of the few mentions of him in the Saga) supposed to have been very serious-minded. Likely a reaction to his sire. WW5 was born after his sire, uncle and brothers died.
Arragh, that charlatan fabulist Lucian Ravenmad professes a deep academic interest in everything, but sure if ye waste yer time readin' any of the empty-headed falsities which he dignifies with the name o' "literature," ye'll soon find that he knows nearly nothin' about anything at all, at all.
Why, that pointy-faced spalpeen would insist that ye could make yerself invisible just by contemplatin' the esoteric subject o' mushrooms! Blarney, says I!

Hmmm, wonder if this off-ness might have ought to do with a certain difficulty that's been about in the shining land of keeping the populous populous. As to the hideability induceable by contemplating mushrooms, well, if an' a fair folk should disdain enough to see one (a balmy concept on it's own) then that one might garnish some incidental kenning on going unnoticed by such contemplation. Dafter attempts have after all been made in all the many long agos that have been. Why consider the mortal that decided 'twould be of effect to put his jacket in the ridiculous configuration of being inside out.
