However unlike the German Stallion, I happen to live in the great City of Gotham so I could, five years later, replicate the iconic images.
Many thanks to a lovely friend SincX who proded me to stop being a wimp and hoofboot it up and to walk 1.2miles in gear to the location. [Though not in hoofboots... yay carrying a bag and normal shoes.]

Hmm... train, crosswalk light, not too many cars, no cars in bad spots, not too many pedestrians, no pedestrians in bad spots, the same time of day (within a couple of hours). One might think you were looking for an excuse to hang out on the street for a while as a pony. :D
Did anybody recognize that you were going for the shot from the movie, or were they just looking at shiny ponybutt? >_>
