It's entirely coincidental that on the day I decide to finish and record two songs about death, two of the most famous people on the planet would die. Farrah had died by the time I recorded "Departed Friend", and Michael has joined her as I once again mine Orwell for metaphors.
I hope you find the topic less morbid and depressing than I do, even if it did spur me on to finish my pieces.

No, but you're precisely right, for two reasons:
1.) These Animal Farm song demos I've been posting are not really intended for my voice, but for future performers I haven't even met yet. This song will probably be begun by an alto, up an octave but down a whole step to Db; I just picked a key that worked for me for the time being. "Departed Friend" is intended for a bass/baritone male singer with a really solid low G, a note beyond my capabilities. Since I didn't want to demo it in a tenor key, I just sang it early in the morning and called it a day.
2.) Unless you're trying to reach the narrowest of audiences, you shouldn't assume they have any training whatsoever in your particular field, but merely an enthusiasm for it. I honestly have no idea how much schooling any of the graphic artists here on FA have had, but I definitely have my favorites and particular tastes. If I found out Artist A (whose work I adore) is a completely self-taught person with a day job at Starbucks and Artist B (whose work bores me) teaches art on the doctoral level, it probably won't make me enjoy A's work any less nor make me reconsider B's work.
Gawwwd, I'm ranting a lot these days. Shut me up.

Not sure at the moment. For one thing, the whole project is currently in limbo as we try to figure out (very quickly, we have our own internal deadlines) how best to approach the Orwell estate. For another, the song isn't ever sung in one big chunk of all four verses in the show. The first verse is kind of a "prequel", and the fourth verse is a reprise which happens twenty minutes later. If I do any more demoing, I may try to find a girl singer because she ideally gets verses 1, 2, and 4.
