Bill sat at asriel's bedside, holding his hand as Asriel's chest fought for air. "Relax, love" he murmured. "It'll be over soon�.."
"I�.i don't want to leave yet�"
Bill rubbed Asriel's wrist. "She's coming as fast as she can�.". Already there was shouting in the courtyards.
"Just a bit longer, love...then you can rest�."
"I�.don't want to leave you...and her�"
"She's strong, Azzie�..she'll get by�.."
"But you-"
Bill looked at him reassuringly. "I"ll be waiting on the other side�..i made a promise...all those years ago�.."
A girl bursts into the room, her eye overflowing with tears. "Father! Papa!" she ran to asriel's other side. "Please...stay...papa, i don't want to lose you!"
"I'm sorry�.i've lived too long�." He puts a hand to his daughter's face. "I know you will rule well in my place�."
"You always knew this day would come, Basil" Bill said gently. "We'd have to leave at some point�."
Basil looked at Bill, eye wide. "You too?"
"Even now, i still must serve Apophis�..do not worry�...i will come to visit�.i will not abandon you�."
Basil heaved a sob, holding her father's hand. Bill kissed Asriel's head. "I'll be waiting, love�.do not fear�.its nearly time�." He gets up, and holds Basil close. "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer�."
Basil looks up at Bill. " reality is an illusion, the universe is a hologram, buy gold�.right?" She rubs her eyes.
Bill ruffles her hair. "That's my girl�..i'll be at the coronation, at the very latest�.goodbye, Basil�.." and he disappeared. Basil turned to Asriel. Already his eyes were closing. "Papa�."
"Be strong, Basil�.keep the hopes and dreams of the kingdom alive�.and don't forget to love,..it's easier to hate than to love�.but for the good of everyone...you mustn't fall into vengence�"
"Of course not Papa�.."
"I love you, Basil�." The world darkened around him. Even though he never heard Basil's reply, he already knew�.
Asriel woke up, shaking. The world was dark around him�.he didn't know where he was.
"Behind you, Asriel�" Asriel whirled. There stood Bill, as promised...but more than that�.everyone...Chara and Frisk, holding hands and grinning�.Papy holding Mettaton�.Undyne, Sans, Alphys, Muffet�..even Blooky and Monster kid were here�.
"Welcome home, my child�."
Asriel ran towards them, the years shedding off of him, once again in his youth as he hugged his parents, his friends around him once more.
"I'm home!"
