When I returned to hell for unfinished business
John Fox, the main character of Furry Islanders: Origins, will be known as "the last Toa Extreme alive". As one of the first "furry mutants" to ever appear on earth -allegedly-, He has seen through many things all his life, from the uneasy relationship between His mutant brethren and the normals, who would stay in their human forms, to warfare between humanity and the shadows. His adventure goes through many parts of the world, contributing to the preparation for the arrival of Visper-Nui, although He does not know it yet. There is one place, however, where He is going to be, that is truly special.
John Fox has travelled the Dark Lands many times. One of them was before His transformation from his old human form into the furry mutant one occurred, as a Toa Extreme, where He and his fellow Toa would face off against the Damn-Nation, and it's ruler, Oscure, unaware of the greater evil that lurks from among the stars. Afterwards, John would wander into different places and scenarios, tries his hand at bounty-hunting, runs a club in a gangster-run mutant city, establish a personal army, explore forgotten, or unseen parts of the world, all connecting to the greater scheme of things, and join a society of mutants trying to survive in a war torn world. He may encounter the Darklands multiple times between adventures, where He would find that the Toa Extreme's destiny was unfulfilled after all, allowing something worse to form underneath Oscure's throne.
I am still trying to figure out how the Darklands will play out, but I am sure it is based on hell, more specifically, some versions of it:
Jazz Jackrabbit 2's final levels take place in Hell, for example. It has 3 forms. One is similar to a hellish version of the north and south poles, with living trees suffering in the cold, another is a hot place, where fire and pain rules everything, and a third one, covered in bones, lava and damnation.
Heart of Darkness (The video game, not the novel) gives us the Darklands -this is where the working title of the place is coming from- where there is a deadly jungle, a dry desert, underground caves flooded with water, inhabited by hungry predators, all of that before You reach a more familiar version of hell, saturated by lava and fire, red light coloring the rocks, spectres and other monsters crawling around... And all of that for a child protagonist to take on in order to rescue his dog.
All dogs go to heaven depicts hell as a lake of lava, with a boat rising from the magma with it's passenger, a winged bone demon, overseen by a dragon-like devil creature. It's pretty basic, to be honest.
I plan this version of hell to be physical, alien, intimidating and have many ways to kill those who wander into it's depths. But for now, let me sign off by ditching this pic here for all to see and embarass Me with.

Thank You! I see there are fans of Heart of Darkness in this community.
Well, the story would be Bionicle Fanfiction, actually, but You may once see what I am getting at. Until then, I shall give You a prophecy:
Well, the story would be Bionicle Fanfiction, actually, but You may once see what I am getting at. Until then, I shall give You a prophecy:
Where darkness lives, six must descend, to transform man and and fate.
Trials await but only one prevails, consumed by the elements.
Old man would fear the new, so beast must survive on their own,
and thus the new chosen shall be born into destiny's river.
But darkness survives, corrupting man too.
Dark warriors of fear and plague would spread madness into the blood.
The hero must return to darkness for his final sacrifice.
Yet the darkness would win, and there would be war,
where three kingdoms would divide the children of the gods.
Into this world of war would the giant return, to take it's throne.
