Reference Sheet for my batarian OC, Varshini Shey Gan'Tha. Been kinda picking away at this for a while, and finally finished it last night. It was not smart. I went to bed at 3 am. Well, at least it's here now xox;;
Shey was born into the slave caste on Khar'Shan. Growing up in a crowded apartment with several other families, she slept on the floor, and every day brought new worries about food, health, and a myriad of other things. Child labour brought in little money, and the moment she was old enough, she started to join illegally held pit fights, making a name for herself as a ferocious opponent. However, this was still not enough, as she was trying to buy her way out of the slave caste. Turning to thievery, she eventually slipped up and got caught by a noble family.
Rather than sticking her into prison to rot, the head of the family offered her a deal. He'd noticed that she looked like a lost twin to his daughter, and so, she was allowed to go free in exchange for her services as a decoy for the fragile and spoiled Varshini. Henceforth, she lived with the family, and learned all the things the daughter did, so as to make a perfect double. In addition, she was taught how to fight, and became skilled in both hand-to-hand combat and the use of a variety of tech powers through her omnitool, along with a good handle on small submachine guns and pistols. That way, she would be able to protect Varshini if trouble ever came to pass.
When the Reapers arrived, the family sent the two girls off on separate shuttles, expecting the giant creatures to take on the big decoy ship Shey was on rather than the small and fast shuttle Varshini was supposed to escape with. But in a moment of stupid luck for Shey, her own ship escaped, while Varshini never made it off-planet. What was left of the hegemony urged her to continue posing as Varshini for the duration of the war; something she did with much gusto, fighting alongside her people.
I am not good at the words right now, but hey \0\ \0/ /0/ there's my girl.
I was really hoping one of the batarians in the MEA multiplayer would be female, but oh well.
A handpicking of my batarian headcanons that can be seen here:
- they can grow hair along the middle of their heads, but men are considered more attractive shaved clean
- mammaries only grow towards the end of a pregnancy to take care of the baby, and shrink back down once they are not needed anymore (Shey just has really well-trained pecs, bruh)
