Good news and bad news ‘bout my dad. Good news is that it’s likely not his pancreas that has the cancer, so that’s drastically increased his chances of survival or at least extended his prognosis by a few more decades.
The bad news is that it’s actually his liver that has the main source of cancer–it’s covering about 1/3rd of it. Plus a few tiny nodules of cancer around his abdominal cavity. One of them is near his heart.
However, they seem to be necrotic/inactive, so they should respond to chemotherapy relatively well. The main focus will be around the big boy gnawing at his liver. Thankfully the liver is the most resilient organ in the human body, so that’s given us hope. We decided to name the tumour 'Bob’.
So instead of being a pancreatic cancer, Bob was actually taking up unwanted residence elsewhere. We’re going to go in for a PET scan tomorrow or Friday to truly see how much of a threat Bob is now that we generally know his location.

Lost my Dad to in part to cancer only a few months ago, though his prognosis was nowhere near as good as the one your describing. On the other hand my uncle has been fending it off of the better part of a decade. I hope for the best in your situation and that everyone, not just your dad, can find some extra strength to make it through. Oh, and give him hugs, it will never be enough, even if he was healthy and lives to 100, it will never be enough, but at least make it an unregrettable amount of hugs.
