Bwahahahahahaaaa!
So I'm browsing Isohunt and they have this new and annoying script that takes you to a page that tries to convince you have a virus on your computer. It runs some sort of bogus virus scan and then tells you you have a virus and it has infected Windows Security and that you need to install their software, which doubtless is some sort of malware.
Yeah. Ummm. I run Ubuntu Linux. I don't even have a "hard drive C:\"
*installs noscript add-on to firefox*
Just thought I'd share the amusing...

To be fair, even if they did customize the scam to simulate non-Windows operating systems, most of the users running those tend to be pretty computer savvy and aren't likely to be fooled anyway... So no sense in putting in the extra effort. :)
But yes. Amusing just the same. :D
Still... They did a pretty lousy job.
"4 Viruses found", but there's at least six in the list? Oops!

Yeah, I'm not expecting them to customize virus scams for Linux any more then I'm expecting someone to make a virus for Linux, I just thought it was amusing that they went through the trouble of creating some sort of page re-direction scam script to try to fake me out about having a virus when they're pretending to be selling virus protection, and not only would I have not fallen for the scam to begin with, I'm running Linux.
My thought process went something like this:
"Oh shit! Windows Security is affected! If your shitty script can scan my system well enough to see my hard-drive, then I've got more problems then my non-existent Windows Security being affected."

Ummm. Dude, I run Linux. As I said in the post, I don't HAVE a drive C to infect. Even if the virus could survive on my computer(which it cannot because the code it requires to propagate does not exist) it wouldn't know where to install itself because Linux does not use the same drive/folder hierarchy that Windows does.
