This allows its normal functions as well as functioning as a hose for his internal air bladders!

Hidden in the furry tip is a nozzle that uses modern nanotechnological "smart materials" to shapeshift to fit any hose or tank inserted into it. Naturally this can also function in reverse, and is actually useful when he's in micro-gravity, allowing a jet of air from his tail to propel himself in low gravity with bending the tail serving to angle the jet and change direction.
