Y'know, swap the SG team furs for humans and, depending on if you take the tabletop RPG for canon, this scenario would actually fit into the continuity. There are, in fact, leonine bipeds in Stargate known as the Sekhmet, used as hosts by the Goa'uld before humans were discovered. You're really not far off from how they were described (albeit quite lightly) in the game manuals.
