Marshall, Punk Rock Hippo
Been working on this for
roundanimal's Hippo Week, actually pretty proud of how it turned out.
The hippo's a new character of mine named Marshall. He uses his huge hippo mouth to belt out punk rock for legions of fans. He comes from a line of classically-trained vocalists, but wanted to break out of his shell and rebel a bit in the rock scene. He looks the part but he's as soft as his tummy looks when you get to know him.
Hope ya like it, sorry for taking so long to post stuff!

And my first reaction to that description was wondering how you'd balance the gain on a microphone when dealing with a hippo's mouth shape. (this has been your unnecessary look into my useless brain)
He looks great, though! That expression especially is really nice and full of clear character, and given the angle of his head combined with negotiating his big ol' snout, that's an achievement to take pride in all on its own, I would say.
Beyond that, he's super cute and fun looking! Excellent attention to detail on him through, especially in capturing the texture of his pudginess and giving a lot of fine cohesion to his flab. Well done!
