We were watching Tiny toons adventures. This show has one thing - animation there is outsorced a lot to different studios. Some are good, while others are... you see above.
I wanted to show one... well, not that terrible, but notecable episode. Called "Fields of honey". It's done by Kennedy cartoons, and it's animation is... baaaaaaaad. The characters never stops, everyting is moving during every scene, characters strike poses at each significant movement, make unnatural faces.
But this one is a pinnacle of the episode. I know that you may think it's been taken while characters was moving, but it wasn't. Babs was still in this one.
Even worse, i think i know what happened here. Animators made this scene, but then found out that scene should be longer, and animation is too short for speech lines in this one. So instead of re-drawing it, or making adittional frames, they just kept this frame still for a 2-3 second.
I dunno why it cracks me up so much.

Outsourcing was a common thing for a lot of cartoon franchises in the late 80's and early 90's. Still, I wonder what studio helped Warner Bros. make the best looking animation of the rest? You know? The same one who did the Tiny Toons title sequence and the Summer Vacation movie? Or even Batman: Mask of the Phantasm! Who was it?

Kennedy was the absolute worst. Dear gods. Every episode of any show they worked on, some character had to do a horrid dance, which I called "The Kennedy Shuffle". They even managed to sneak it into an episode of "Darkwing Duck" that they *somehow* got contracted to do. Probably their best work, with Disney breathing down their necks to keep the characters on-model.
This was actually one of Kennedy Cartoons's better episodes, IMO. It had a lot of really good animation by Jon McClenahan, whom would go on to found Startoons. (But TMS is still my favorite.) That shot was not by Jon McClenahan, though.
But as for Glen Kennedy (the founder of Kennedy Cartoons and the guy responsible for the weird bouncy style with the "confused o" mouth expressions, the shuffling feet, declarative fingers and kick-dancing), I generally prefer his work on "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo" over the Tiny Toons. After Warner Bros. fired them from Tiny Toons, Kennedy Cartoons went to work for Disney, animating on shows like "Darkwing Duck," "Goof Troop" and "Bonkers." Sure, the bounciness was still there at times, but the characters were a lot more on-model, and so it looked better.
