this was actually planned for months under the guise of "unite the right," but was essentially a massive white power/supremacy march. ppl from both sides came from miles and miles around. as someone who doesn't live in a big city at all, lemme tell you... this is far from an urban-centric issue.
Looked into it a little and can't say I'd have gone along with any of the three more publicized groups that met up there, and so was thinking of the people that live there and can't avoid the hubub.
The deeper issues may not only be in the cities, but the issue itself (and I'd say hatred of eachother's the most basic issue) is only in the minds of people, and people pile up in cities. Then when there are too many people around, it's much easier to stop thinking about everyone as individuals, and then empathy just leaves the building all together.

the right were there to literally hold a nazi/kkk rally. the antifa were there to counter it, and many were injured and one died doing so.
little bit of a difference in groups, there. also worth noting those locals you're concerned about supported the antifa in droves.
also, i understand what you mean, but that's a double edged sword. most of the time, there is no empathy outside of cities for poc. urban settings tend to be more progressive and therefore more accepting (even if still Bad) of nonwhite people, lgbt people, etc. so i'm gonna have to disagree.

Way I read it was the nazis/kkk types showed up uninvited, so it was probably just planned as a boring political waste of time. Thus, three groups that showed up, right, left, and racists.
My experiences on the LGBT discrimination is the opposite, with larger groups of kids 'raised' mostly by their peers being the harshest. One on one and smaller groups up to about 4, nobody really cares all that much. Ain't got near the personal experience on racism, haha.

the "right" group WAS the racists. the "unite the right" rally has been in planning for months and was intended from the beginning to attract racists and far-right ideologues. that's who it was trying to "unite."
as a queer person from a small town, i guarantee you that's not the norm in the us for many, many people. urban areas tend to be more progressive in general, and rural ones (especially in the south) tend to be far less accepting of such things. while children might be okay with it, parents, authority figures, and peers as an adult are often far less accepting. i'm not talking about a small group of kids; i'm talking about the society surrounding a community as a whole.

Eh, opinions differ as wildly as supposed facts where politics is concerned. A conversation between a couple internet wierdos isn't likely to be where anyone changes their opinion.
My experiences with everyone may be colored by the fact that most know me as a generally helpful person and a libertarian before they know of my sexual preferences, so they may be less of judgemental shitbags than they'd otherwise be if they knew nothing of me other than orientation. People in general suck, but that's just innate in the human condition.

sometimes, government intervention is necessary. such as when people need medication they cannot afford or when bigots refuse service to people based on something such as race or sexuality or gender. government has an important role to play because people still harbor hatred toward others for things as simple as ethnicity or gender identity.
endgame, i'm an anarchocommunist. but we are nowhere near the point where we're "mature" enough as a society to handle that.

Oh neat, usually the younger 'communists' I meet just somehow have it confused entirely with anarchism. You've actually taken the time to figure out what best fits your ideas on life.
I will agree that there are a lot of systems of government that just don't work out. I dunno if it's society to blame, or simply human nature itself. Invariably a few people get in power and then do all they can to milk their positions, rather than doing what's best for everyone.
As a counterpoint to your two points, I'd rather see morals governed entirely by the individuals themselves, but it's easy to see that's just not going to work on a scale that fits cities, much less whole countries. I guess I tend toward the capitalist side of libertarianism/anarchism. Never really put a ton of thought into it beyond voting L every few years.

i'm pretty much anti-capitalist in every sense.
i don't know exactly how to explain why without just giving you paragraphs upon paragraphs of over verbose rambling. especially since i'm currently drunk.
can you tell me why you think capitalism is necessity and the best option?

I tend to believe that people handle disputes better than laws, and private property results in more care given to everything.
Refusing service for any reason is a good rambling point, it goes both ways, where someone doesn't want to serve one person for (arbitrary reason), that person being denied service would similarly not want to serve (or give business to) someone that would discriminate against them for (arbitrary reason).
If someone's free to refuse service to anyone for any reason then they've got no reason to be anyone but themselves. The people they discriminate against will naturally be doing things like writing bad reviews and steering customers away, maybe even vandalizing the place. Bigots out themselves, the market takes care of putting them out of business, and the people they pissed off may just wait a bit to be forgotten before putting a brick through the windows.
I can see where free market capitalism could be seen as bad, looking at times before laws against monopolization and before labor unions did their thing. When the government (and police) was pretty blatantly owned by a few people, not that that's all that different now, it's just spread out enough that you can't tell as easily who's buying who.
Oh right, on the private property thing, I take good care of my tools because I bought them and have to replace them if they get broke. The shop's tools are constantly lost and broken because 'nobody' paid for them, or has to replace them. Same with housing, own your land and what's on it, you take care of it. Rent an apartment and the damage deposit's a cheap thing compared to the effort that maintenance is. The nicer that stuff's treated, longer it lasts, less shit ends up junked or needing repair, better for the environment as a whole.
Communism just seems to have a lot more governmental overhead, making sure that stuff (food, goods, housing, labor, etc) is distributed. Everywhere there can be corruption there invariably will be (in either system of governance) just because of human nature. Pure capitalism requires less government as everything just falls as it may, businesses rise and fall from their actions alone rather than the regulations put on them.
I'm good at rambling too, and I don't even drink. :p

honestly i don't have the energy to pick this apart, but all of your assumptions are based on the only system you've ever experienced (capitalism). so it's gonna be a frustrating ride for me if you're unwilling to even think about possibilities outside of the society we currently have.
i may get back to this later, but this is stuff i've hashed over a million times with a million other libertarians and honestly it usually just winds up frustrating for me. we'll see.

The alt-left kinda sucks
Nothing cool or catchy rhymes with left....
Also, really?your feeding into division politics...le sigh.
Poor fandom has allowed the plague in. Surprised it took this long
*waits to hear something offensive and or deleted*
Man I love free speech! God bless the internet!
Edit:
Shit i forgot to add that no one sides with what happen in VA. Haha I don't think even the semi racist people I work sigh sided with them when I brought it up today....I'm sure next time it won't get that big.
Nothing close to lest say Baltimore riots and Ferguson

Nazis are no more racist than the black panthers and isis. Both of which i can find plenty of proof saying they want to kill whitey kill america and kill children...... These people exist, i know. But they are being used as pawns and rarely acting on their own.
what im trying to say is this nation is being forced to be divided, with people being bused in and people finding craigs list adds saying they will pay for protesters to show up. Some even paying more for breaking things. I feel the government ALLOWED this to escalate by allowing other groups get near the, already weird blob of people. Causing it to go from agitated to violent. They need this divide. Angry people vote with their emotions or they become a useful idiot.
Its been done time and time again. Not just in our history but in other countries as well.
Give me 2 good actual positive things that come out of this except. "well we need no nazies and we need no hate" People are going to hate others. So long as the locals keep those people under control. You notice them. I got a town of those people and normally everyone has segregated them TO that town. Go be with your backwards people. I think thats what they should have done. OK have your march because you paid to be here, now go away. Instead, they were given a spot light and a voice, and escalated it. They wanted it to happen. Sorry ive just seen it too many times
And yes i just compared Ferguson to that riot. Because again i have video of people saying they will "kill every white motha' fucker that come down on this street" "fuck the police-" then later not 4 min in that video some one gets shot "look at that cop just sitting there, ay fuck you man do somthin,"
They lit fires and burned down other peoples cars and houses. i dont remember the death count but i know a few hundred were injured.
Both cases shouldnt have happened, and both the nazi march and the what ever the riots were about. Shouldnt have been allowed to get that far, that bad, and be allowed to disrupt that much. I dont care if your favorite football team just won, or the wrong president just got in. Everyone has the right to protest, NO ONE has the right to destroy property and the lives of others. That brings you from protest to threat- regardless of age, race the t-shirt you ware. I dont care.
this comment was rushed sorry for any confusion >.>

That's just a lazy way to avoid the point.
You missed the rest of the post.
I guess only white people can be racist rift off the bat and other people have to have a mountain of proof to be swaded.
It exists in all cultures. To think otherwise is ignorant...I hope you went intending this, and I'm just reading into it.
Also I'm sensing alot of anger from that comment. I don't know why. We're just stating thoughts and ideas. No need to be defensive

black panthers are not racist. i don't care to engage with false equivalences.
i also don't care to have a 4-paragraph-a-post discussion with someone who can't understand the difference between literal NAZIS and black people helping others to survive in a country that wants them dead or at least under a collective thumb.

do you really not understand that i'm refusing to engage with you because you're talking out your ass?
three videos do not disprove centuries of history. blm hasn't killed anyone. the black panthers were literally protecting black people who were being beaten and killed. you can't take shit out of historical context and act like you win.
please just fuck off.

comments above hidden bc of shit like this, by the way. i'm not putting up with racist comments, no matter how eloquent and "well-spoken" they are.
how many times do i have to say this: i am not here to debate you. if you're racist or a bigot, you can go. this isn't an argument. fuck. off.
