Since the manakete princess Noemi is being hunted by an army determined to exterminate her and her kin, her guardian Lief is always vigilant and prepared to defend her. Noemi's beloved pegasus had been able to avoid the first valley of arrows, but an unprepared Noemi lost her balance and fell to the ground, Lief then had Song flee as the enemies prepared to fire again, because she was too large to protect, and the enemy was focused on Noemi. Lief's speed was proved when he effortlessly stopped every arrow, leaving himself and Noemi unscathed.
