People within fandom (and outside of it) often attribute skill/talent as stature. Those of a perceived higher stature are sought after for any manner of contact or relation (aquanticeship/friendship). People so strongly desire that relationship they fear failure and project that fear towards the person because it's easy to forget those we hold on such high pedestals are people too. Atleast that's my guess.
