I think this was an interesting idea. They made a sexy couple and Hercules even gave Logan a metal for his claws/bones that was even stronger than adamantium.

Plus being basically immortal, or long lived, Logan shouldn't care what gender his lover is. They could have had him decide to try out men since most of the relationships he has with women don't end well.
