I love Ghost Pokemon. Apart from the general awesome creepiness, there's something especially cool about how different they are, how inconceivable they seem to be and yet go with. All the other types, at least they're physical beings, genuine creatures. Even the slightly different ones (Dark, Psychic, Rock) are ones that could be touched, examined, dissected, etc.
With Ghosts though... it's a whole different ballgame. They're spirits from beyond our realm, they defy science. They prefer to attack stats and status, more content to screw around with a Pokemon's mentality. Although they do have those powerful attacks to finish them off when they're done toying with their opponents (they even had the cojones to kill Ash back in the original US TV series. Sure, it didn't stick, but that's still a lot more than Charizard ever managed).
Of Ghosts, Haunter is my favorite. Not as puffball as Ghastly, not as round and Totoro-like as Gengar, and not as smug as Mismagius. He looks like something that's come up from Hell itself, ready to rip someone's soul from the physical being and slurp it up for lunch. Yeah, you don't turn your back on Haunter.
This badass looking fellow is the result of one of
gasmask's realistic pokemon commissions. And I think it came out pretty damn cool 8)

I've discovered that Pokemon Platinum is a huge gambit by Nintendo to sell DS systems.
Once you get to the third gym, you can't beat it without a dark pokemon and you can't catch a dark pokemon anywhere. (they even took out the stunkies under the bycycle road)

Yeah. I don't like the new diamond/pearl guys. :/ The first set was awesome, the second.. like I already said, a lot of really cool guys came out of it, the third... they were using ideas they'd already had but it wasn't THAT bad, and the newest set is just.. bleh. No thought put into them, no effort, and.. yeah.
When I still allowed myself to be affiliated with Pokemon, I never wanted to let Haunter turn into Gengar on my game. It's like... the best of the three turning into the worst of the three. Gengar's not a ghost, it's an...imp. A homely little imp.
Still, the original 150 all remain way better than the crap they've got now...Red, Blue, Yellow. After that, ew.

Exactly what I did, Gengar just isn't worth all the trouble (in the few instances I was around someone I could trade with).
And while I hold the original 150 close to my heart, I like a lot of the new ones as well (big fan of Silver and Diamond). Some are just out and out ridiculous, but the rest are just fine.

It doesn't help that people are making their "fursonas" after these fictional creatures created by Nintendo for profit. That's like...an instant social death, with me. That and the new version of anything usually strikes as revolting, not unlike Blather's view on insects...
this is pretty bad-ass. I always liked the ghost pokemon as some of my favorites back in the day (when there was only 150, plus missingno, if you did the clone item trick...) and haunter was always my favorite.
And no, my internet name has nothing to do with the pokemon gastly.
