I'm leaving for DragonCon in a few days and trying to finish up some commissioned pieces before I go (in addition to DragonCon art show work! Eek!) The reason I'm leaving so early is because I'm driving down with a friend to see the solar eclipse! The totality is going to be passing through South Carolina and it just so happens to time itself well with DragonCon!
This is one of two masks for a client who wanted a Hades and Persephone motif. This mask portrays Persephone, in her glory of flowers, nearing the end of her stay on Earth when ice starts creeping in and she has to go back down to be with Hades for the months of winter.
Hand-carved and shaped 7 oz. leather, painted with acrylics.
