Great movie! If you happen to like Nimh, I would also give Felidae a try. Felidae is more adult with gore, (Think Plague dogs/Watership Down)

It's terrific! Done in 1982, very old school. It's Don Bluth's first movie after he left Disney, so you'll see its similarities to The Rescuers.

I did like The Rescuers. Maybe I should see Secrets of Nimh too then. :)

Going to say I blame The Lion King and Inuyasha. Mostly sesshomaru as his transformation into a giant dog was the best thing I'd ever seen

Lion King was a trigger for a lot of people. Kinda like Zootopia, it felt like it was done on purpose.

Richard Scarry's stuff is awesome! I totally forgot about him until I was at my sister's place with my niece and nephew, and they had a few Richard Scarry books. His illustrations and characters are excellent.

The animated cartoons had a few "oh my" moments. An amigo pointed to an episode where many of the characters were running in there undies.

so later, when Walt Disney brought out an animated Robin Hood, and they were all animals, didnt phase me at all, though I was annoyed that the King was John, the most corrupt king in history. but more so that it showed a Lion in a bad light...
From there, Furry didn't have much till Kamandi, from DC comics, then in the late 70's Dave Sim got into the act, with a comic he published called Cerebus the Aardvark. other than him, you could read the Avengers for Tigra, or Dreadstar for the cat guy they had there, and before that the Star Trek Animated series had Lt. M'ress. and in 1984, Steve Gallacci started Albedo Anthropomorphics, and kinda lit the fire for the concept. TMNT got their start from that, as did Usagi Yojimbo, and every furry thing since.

Master Tigress and Tai Lung from Kung Fu Panda were my first furry crushes. Tigress got me into badass women and Tai Lung got me into beefy guys.

Tigress is cute, but too serious. Po needs to sit on her while she gets tickled so we can see her laugh so hard she pees herself. Although seeing that happen to Mrs. Brisby would be kind of hot too.

I loved NIMH... not only did it seal the deal for me with "furries" but it also greatly expanded my 7 year old mind as far as cartoon content could be.... I recall the scene with the medical tests scaring me as a kid. Now I own a cel from it.... ;3

The medical tests and the 'dark air shafts' stuck with me too.
