"Photo-Op: Ballerina in Rockefeller Center, NYC / 6-23-17"
Continuing this latest edition of "Throwback Thursday", I resume my 'photo-op' presentation of things that I've seen in midtown Manhattan on June 23, 2017 (during my first time in New York City since the mid-1990s)...
Having reunited with my friend (and fellow "FA" contributor)
Joe Strike, we took a stroll through Times Square, and then through Rockefeller Center. At the latter locale, we'd parted company where the Christmas tree usually stood in December. (I'd regaled Joe about the only time I got to see the Christmas tree get lit up - back in the early 1980s, when I had a job four blocks away from 30 Rock. I was able to be within ten feet of said tree, among a huge throng of people; but from where I was standing, I wasn't able to see any of the ice skaters at the rink down below.)
Since Summer had just begun (and the ice rink was replaced with tables and chairs for hungry restaurant customers), in lieu of the tree on a large pedestal sat a three-story-tall giant inflatable ballerina (with blonde hair and a pair of blue dancing shoes). I just had to take a picture of it with my disposable camera.
Afterward, Joe and I said our respective "good-byes" and went our separate ways.
You can read more about it in the second chapter of my multi-part journal "Return to New York" - https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8290561/
