Remember how he explained why people don't try to sit on him thinking it's an empty seat at the bar? Non-virgins basically sense there's something there so his presence is felt and instinctively they try to avoid it. More likely they'll think their house is haunted.

Not when you live in a world where hell itself can "touch" an individual giving them supernatural powers which also labels them as "heretics" or the damned that have to be captured or killed on sight. I can imagine someone reporting their house is haunted and some anti-hell touched/paranormal investigator gets sent over under the suspicion its the work of a hell touched more so then a ghost.

I imagine he's probably better off living with his bartender friend if they have the space, but he probably doesn't because there's harsh laws that punish those caught harboring hell touched.

Well, my thought on that is he possibly tried that in the past and it backfired.

Thank about it, lets say one of the people brings in a kid or a prospective virgin "friend", or hell just any virgin into the place. Boom he's caught. He might be able to explain away one or two instances but if it happened too much no way.

There are a few issues with your logic here.

First: If that was an issue it wouldn't be safe for him to go out in public, but not only do we see him doing that multiple times we see children spot him and their parents dismiss their comments. Second: It would be really hard to catch someone whom you couldn't see to execute. Think about it, the majority of people on the police force probably aren't virgins and therefor wouldn't be able to see him. Even if he was discovered he'd be able to escape easily enough as most people wouldn't be able to see him to hunt him or tell his hunters where they saw him.

I would argue that it is more psychological. He is obviously depressed. My guess is that he doesn't feel like he deserves anything better.

He likely can't get a job because he'd be invisible to 99% of the people there. And with how horrifically people treat others with powers in this world that'd be a death sentence.

So he'd show up for a interview IF he got lucky and the person doing the interview was a virgin he might get the job. Then he has to deal with being invisible to everyone else.

He could possibly hide in nicer places but that increases the chance of being caught. Anyone going into a ratty place like that is most likely are not likely to be the type that could see him.

Given how his glamour works his living conditions are sad, but understandable. To be able to live a somewhat of a normal life everyone he interacts with would have to be chaste virgins. If he tried living with people I'd bet the constant feeling like people are ignoring you would be very stressful. No one to have a conversation with no one support you. He isn't invisible but has the awareness of a shadow glimpsed from the corner of your eye. He could be suffering and without a single virgin around no one would be the wiser. Are even other unicorns invisible to non-virgin unicorns? If so, how low are the chances for them to find mates and have children? Are all baby unicorns doomed to be orphans since they can't see their parents?

Now, the most logical thing would be that unicorns are always able see each other, but the lack of unicorns aside Ciel in the comic so far makes me doubt that. So think about it... unless it's just MAGIC, you know...

I feel a bit hesitant to say it if there will be further plot developments, but I don't quite get how and why Ciel seems to be made out to be such a prick, other than because we're told to.

This is coming off the back of having finished a hard copy of the first chapter, which by the way, I should thank you for and all. All I saw was that Ciel slept with Frost, and disappeared because only virgins can see unicorns.

Maybe Ciel is a prick just because he sleeps around with people and doesn't seem to care, which would be kind of cool if we're deriding him for being a slut, as opposed to Cinder and Frost where it actually feels like they love each other.

If Ciel was doing something to maybe put Cinder, Frost and other hell-touched at risk because it's been shown in Chapter 1 that having such powers can get you hanged, then maybe I would believe it more. But currently, I am not yet convinced by Ciel being a detestable son of a bitch other than because we're told to.

But please don't take this to mean I hate CinderFrost. I overall like it a lot, and I believe I have expressed to you what I like. I would say that currently, I think Ciel is the weakest part, but to be balanced, I think the strongest part of the narrative is Cinder and Frost's relationship, and the concept of having these hell-touched powers from near-death experiences. More broadly speaking, though, the strongest part would have to be the artwork, especially the snow and ice effects. I genuinely felt like putting a pot of tea on when I saw Frost almost freeze to death!

Really, though, I think I'm overall enjoying the chapter, and I can't wait to see how it concludes. I'm hoping that I am at least being fair and balanced.
