Are there any animal species more adorable and cuddly-looking than an otter? Not many... so why haven't they been domesticated yet?
This little guy in particular took an interest in me, and I took quite a few pictures of him doing what otters do best. Being friendly, curious, and cute. (and swimming, of course.. but my camera isn't so good with motion).
Interesting fact: River otters squeak like rubber dog toys! The asian small-clawed otters (which we also have at this particular zoo) make a similar sound, though theirs sounds a little more like a chirp.

So North American river otters... they squeak.. do they make other noises? Do you know where I could get a sound clip of them? I've been dying to know what they sound like, but all I have to go on is a movie called "Ring of Bright Water" (which has what's called a Maxwell Otter), and "Operation Giant Otter" fro the discover channel, which features the Giant Amazon Otter.
(I was only employed for the fall months, so if I were to go now I'd have to pay admission! Plus it'd be cold!)
