This piece legit made me start crying. ;_; This is so touching , and so beautiful. It struck a really really strong, deep cord in my heart. The colors, effects, light work, the tenderness of this is just gorgeous.
The Pern books, were my first introduction to fantasy as a child, when I started reading them at 7 years old, 24 almost 25 years ago. I loved them instantly. All of it. The beginnings, the first fire-lizard discovery. The genetic journey to the first rideable dragon. Creatures native , brought in, or genetically introduced. The cultures.... all of it.
Pern helped me through so much, helped me escape some pretty harsh childhood, preteen, teen traumas. Anne McCaffrey books directed my brain to get into writing, and drawing. You could say that the books are a great part of why I started drawing and writing.
I recently began reading the books again, from the very first one published, and I shall read all the way through to her last published works. Eventually I shall also read Todd’s as well. My hope is to re-connect with my fantasy side so that I may start drawing dragons again. I have human characters I cannot draw myself, but their fire-lizards and dragons, and various Pernese beasts I can draw.
So I am incredibly happy to have stumbled on this piece. Your work is fantastic. And here I am 5 minutes later still crying because this moved me so darn much.
Please please please continue your Pern art, it is beautiful and I adore seeing it. It is so hard to come by good art of McCaffrey’s world. This is just stunning.
