Benny "Da Weasal" Gambini
**OLD PIECE**
This is a portrait of a pet ferret we had named Benny Da Weasal Gambini. He was the first ferret that pioneered the whole ferret soga in the McKeever family. We became a ferret shelter and rescue, saving several from the California border and adopting them out to good, loving homes. Ferrets tend to live only 7-8 years. Benny lived to be about 10, truely being the leader in what is now an operation to support and care for ferrets around the nation.
We miss you Benny.
This portrait was also used for testing out a new fur technique I developed. While using only referance pics from the internet to figure out fur lay out, I had no referance pictures of Benny at all, and just used my memory. And if I can get ahold of an original picture of Benny, you will see how damn close I did get in appearance. All the way down to the speckles on his nose even. I am quite proud of this piece.
The piece was created with a variety of media, colored pencil being the primary, but included acrylic paint, watercolor, ink sketching, and graphite pencil.
