Spartan [Timelapse Video Included!]
Those spartan lions sure had awesome abs back then!
This is a very special picture. I drew this for my panel "From Lines To Finish", where I showcased a timelapse video of the drawing process. There I explained what techniques and programs I use to create my pictures, like Daz 3D Studio to get me started on the pose. You can also see some of the inspirations I had for this picture, like similiar themed ones by Furryrevolution or the game Titan Quest.
The video is 45 minutes long and does feature some adult (furry) content, which is why you need a youtube account to watch it. LINK TO THE VIDEO.
There is also a shorter 10 minute version, which can be viewed by everyone: LINK TO THE VIDEO.
Thanks to everyone who came to see my panel! It was so awesome to see all of you there. And also, thanks to everyone who asked a question or gave me some insight into how I can improve my work. You guys rock! :3
And to top it off: A large canvas print of this was available as a charity piece in the Eurofurence Artshow. It sold for 225 Euros, all for charity. :3

Aside from my obvious love of lions, I love your choice here though for two reasons, both of which I'm sure you know: a) the documented proof that male lions are among those in the animal kingdom to perform many homosexual acts, which perfectly fits the Spartans and b) the fact that in the time of ancient Greece, lions actually did live in that part of the world. So your choice was perfect even beyond the awesomeness of lions.

Auch wenn ich weiss, dass Profi=keine Referenzen ein Mythos ist, ist es doch ziemlich beruhigend zu sehen wie viele verschiedene Referenzen du für das Bild hinzugezogen hast. X3

Es ist interessant: Du bist nicht der erste, der sowas anmerkt. Ich find es irgendwie lustig, dass quasi ich jetzt als Beispiel dafür diene, dass es okay ist Referenzen zu benutzen. Und zwar deswegen, weil ich eben selbst weiß wie es mir ging, als ich damit angefangen habe, die 3D Modelle usw. zu verwenden. Da habe ich auch händeringend nach anderen Zeichnern gesucht, die es ähnlich machen und war froh, wenn ich dadurch in meiner Arbeitsweise bestätigt wurde.
Dabei ist es ja eigentlich albern - niemand hat dich dafür zu kritisieren, wie du deine Bilder zeichnest. Und wenn es mir Sicherheit und vor allem die Freude beim Zeichnen garantiert - na warum soll ich es dann anders machen? x3 Ich bin der Meinung, jeder Zeichner sollte so arbeiten, wie es ihm/ihr am besten gefällt. Das betrifft nicht nur die Wahl des Mediums, sondern auch die Wahl der Hilfsmittel. :3
Im 10-Minuten Video steht am Anfang, wie lange das Bild insgesamt gedauert hat. Es waren: 7 Stunden, 51 Minuten und 30 Sekunden. :3

Ja, zeichnen sollte eigentlich keine Regeln haben, Hauptsache es macht Spass und das Ergebnis gefällt. Aber wenn eben genug Leute diverse "Regeln" aufstellen und verbreiten lässt man sich eben doch auch dazu hinreissen denen zu folgen, oder zumindest ein schlechtes Gewissen zu haben wenn nicht. XP
Von da her ist es echt klasse wenn bekanntere Künstler wie du da mal ganz transparent sind und zeigen, dass es eben in Ordnung ist. :)
Und verdammt, ich habe nur das lange Video geschaut und bei beiden in der Beschreibung verzweifelt nach der Gesamtlänge gesucht, aber auf die Idee noch das 10min Video zu schauen kam ich nicht. XD

Das stimmt. Konventionen entwickeln sich halt automatisch und da man eben oft nur das Ergebnis sieht, kann man das oft nicht gut in ein Verhältnis setzen, was nun okay ist und was nicht. Ich kenn das ja von mir wie gesagt auch. :3
Ich werde die Gesamtlänge noch in der Beschreibung des langen Videos hinzufügen, danke fürs aufmerksam machen! :3
