Draw this!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daphnia It's soooo cute *_* and transparent XD HAHAHAHAHA
They DID resemble a lot indeed, apart from the cephalothorax part. But if I remember correctly, they were of two COMPLETELY different kind of species - and maybe even more different than that for having a body organization completely different (like annelids compared to insects) - and both totally extinct.
Huh, no I didn't, though checking it out on wikipedia, yeah, they do look rather similar. Trilobite has a shell, but other than that they're pretty much the same. Also managed to get a size attached to that little creature in this drawing too. 3 feet long... that is so not something I'd want to find swimming next to me!
The fun part is that while they weren't closely related, they were so far back on the evolutionary tree, they're still related. XD All of the listed creatures (trilobites, Opabina, Anomalocariids) were linked by a complex web of who evolved into what via which way, and to be fair it's kinda like looking at a jigsaw puzzle with only half the pieces...but they were all definently related in the way a squid is related to a clam.
Awww, so even prehistoric pseudo crustaceans with spikey grabbing claws and a amazingly spikey and serrated mouthcan look cute! Nice job!
This has always been one of my favorite cambrian creatures ever, because it looks like it schould be swimming in the seas (or gas clouds) of another world a million light years from here. (^_^)

Sadly, it's a book, so I can't copy/paste.
I did find a thingamajig online talking about it. http://ediacaran.blogspot.com/2009/.....malocaris.html
Another article speculates the same specimen is a sea scorpion of some sort: http://www.sciencedaily.com/release.....0205142145.htm

From the sea-scorpion article, describing the creature:
The arguement for it being an anomalocaris is very strong there. XD
The fossil's head section has large bulbous eyes, a circular mouth opening and a pair of segmented, opposable appendages with spines projecting inward along their length. The trunk section is made up of 12 segments, each with small appendages, and a long tail spine. Between the head and trunk, there is a pair of large triangular wing-like limbs — that likely propelled the creature like a swimming penguin, according to Briggs. Unlike its ancestors from the Cambrian period, which reached three feet in length, Schinderhannes is only about 4 inches long.
