Well, if it comes to that, hopefully she'll either:
A. Be able to do it with words, rather than having to use force.
or
B. Gain a means of blasting the darkness out of him non-lethally.

Another possibility: part of Jack's psyche will accept it, another part will try to reject it, and the two parts will start warring with each other until Nicole finally intervenes to settle the matter by ripping the darkness out of him and banishing it to the deepest reaches of the dream world.
You know, Jack thought that putting Gem in danger would call the ghost of Nicole. It wouldn't. But, Gem standing up for herself to her father, and protecting the family from Jack, and laying the truth on him, that very well COULD bring Nicole back to her kids, and even Jack.
Gemma may not be dead, will not die because she has Paul, but she might be the one thing that reunites her whole family where they are now.
Nicole will come back and tell Gemma 'I always told you I would be there for you!'
Anyway, don't know if that's going to happen or not, but it might be how I would end the story on a happier note.
These last two pages have been GREAT, Sammy!

Last I checked, that's the job of good planning and foresight. You're essentially saying that people SHOULD have children as they're as much of an investment as anything else they're doing. And simply put, THAT isn't true. Not the part about children being an investment... the part about SHOULD have children because, as you're arguing, who else is going to take care of you? There are investments like eating healthy, exercising, and putting money away to take care of one's body in older age.
Never disagreed having children is an investment, but considering how badly a parent can really screw up a relationship, I don't even think it's a sound one. My own parents have already soured that. Again, you argued that people WILL become frail in old age, and something needs to take care of you at that point. I'm happy to point out there are other investments a person can make to mitigate that.
But all of this is, as has been pointed out, completely beside the context of my statement. I am talking about children under the age of 18 having to take care of their parents because they can't take care of themselves at a basic level. Terrible burden. And you should know there are plenty of "kids" reading these comics who might not know it isn't normal to have to be responsible for the parent's happiness or their financial well being. And I'm really confused as to why you felt the need to derail that.

Just spent the past few hours reading this comic from the beginning and let me tell you it's been a wonderful experience. Not only seeing your art grow but seeing the characters develops, it's amazing really!
Not going to lie, this comic has even gotten a few tears out of me too. Can't wait to see where the rest of this goes!

First off....thankyou for the lovely compliment and for spending time of reading the whole thing, a number of folk have jumped in midway and then complained they dont understand whats going on so I really do appreciate you taking an hour or two out of your day to read the whole thing. Ooh...and sorry/not sorry for making you cry, I feel honored youd be that invested
I read the beginning of this a long time ago and got to a point were a cought up. I stopped reading after that, but recently recall the cute and ineresting story from years ago. And looked it up once more. Started from the big beginning because it's been so long. Been Binge reading it when I can and just cought up. It was a tear jerker at times. Great story. Kinda sad to see it ending after so long.
Wasn't feeling good about my own comic because I thought it looked bad, but seeing your art improve so much over the years gave me a new found confidence.i just need to stick with it. Thank you.
Can't wait to see what you got coming up.
Cheers to a couple more years of reading you comic!

GO Gem GO!!!
You make me very proud of you, crushing demons like that under the soles of your feet!
Jack is finally being told not only what he needs to hear, but what is the truth, and it could not come from a better furson. I love his expression when the tiny child he's trying to choke to death becomes a full adult in her own right and lays into him with righteous anger
I say again,
GO Gem GO!!!
