Crushing Disappointment
You'd think that when Ryuu has make-up attendants who are far smaller than he is he'd be more cautious, especially when they're doing the delicate task of painting his claws. Unfortunately he is quite the ditzy dragon and suddenly pranced off to check out a potential lipstick sale a short flight away, totally oblivious than his little bird friend Ian was directly in the path of the bottom of his paw...
Cel-shaded commission for
Ian_Corvid. Ryuu honestly does mean well but he is far too excitable and blissfully ignorant for his own good - please forgive him!

You'd think I'd be used to having my mind destroyed every time I saw your work pop up in my inbox but for the technical ability which has gone into this one, I'm particularly impressed. It's a very daring piece this one; you've really pushed the boat out but you've delivered something which looks truly epic. That is an astonishing feat, getting that perspective as you've managed. It's definitely one of those drawings where it's so clear just how much you put into your art, trying things that you don't even realise you can do. Super, super amazed, I really am. Above and beyond, this drawing.
General note about those commissions is due I reckon. I know you closed for them, I know you never intended to open them, but despite that, you really have delivered top quality work. Then again, there was never any doubt. A really big well done from me, you did fantastically. Now draw yourself something. ^^

I know we already briefly discussed this on Twitter but I think this just goes to show it does pay off to break out of your comfort zone and go a little nuts with ambition/creativity - it will likely be a bit iffy at first (as is always the case) but with enough persistence you can mould it into something you like. I figured I have done enough "character standing at 3/4 angle on a flat level plane" art and I don't want to keep falling back on that just because it's the more 'reliable' option. I know it gets said a lot but we all need to remember to experiment occasionally, myself included!
As always, thanks for your feedback. I'd go into detail on each point but I can just tell you and thank you in person!
