Red Shetland and the mace
Finally colored this up for the AC art show as well . Personally I wish I had the talents of photoshop and color this via computer.
But I suck at that.
Besides, not everyday we see Red with a blunt force weapon!

From the look on her face, she seems three steps away from using that mace on the architect in ways that would make the masesmith weep.
"...stupid curving-to-the-right stairs, I can't get a good swing here with the column in the way, and any defenders coming down get to do full swings at me..."
(Then again, the guy who paid for that fort considers those very qualities to be major selling points for the design. It's hard to find forts made that give the attacker an advantage over the defenders.)

A mace you could peel apples with. With the mass behind the blow, you don't NEED a razor-sharp edge to 'cut,'
Getting hit with that is like an 8'x10' panel of sheet metal falling on your foot from two stories up, and somehow landing edge on. Wave bye bye to your little piggies, they (and half your foot) are no longer part of you.
Sharpening a flanged mace will actually REDUCE its combat effectiveness, as the now axe-like flanges are more likely to 'cut' into plate armor rather than simply crushing the plate against the wearer, and if it cuts into the plate, it's likely to get stuck, and you do NOT want to be stuck so close to the guy you just hit with your weapon arm entangled in the leather strap you so thoughtfully put your hand through so you wouldn't drop your weapon. Even if he's down for the count, he's still weighing you down as his buddies come over to get medieval on your behind.

Yeah, if I had my pick of any hero to stand by me in a fight, she's my second choice.
(ducks)
Nothing personal, Red, there's just someone who I would pick first if I had the chance. His name's Ash, he works at S-Mart, and he's fought down the forces of evil several times, one-handed. Serious, the evil got into his left hand, so he had to cut it off, and it didn't even slow him down in butt-kicking.
