First of all, sorry about the quality. It wasn't far from midnight and the only light was from the flash and the porch light above my head, but I was determined to get a picture. Odd that this was the one to turn out the best since it was hand held. The ones I braced on the opposite railing must've been too far for the flash to help.

Anyway, the raccoons had been coming and eating fallen birdseed and the corn we put out for squirrels, and they kept coming closer. Two nights ago they got in the garage and we could hear our dog scampering over the deck trying to get them. But last night he was barking and we found this young coon just clinging there. We brought the dog in and waited, but it never moved (scared but unhurt) and the mother didn't come back for it, so we finally just shut the dog in the garage and went to bed. I haven't heard, but I assume it was gone by morning. I would have liked to have petted it, but it probably would've gnawed my face off. So we'll be shutting the food and dog up for a while, hoping they move on. I'd love to feed them, but it wouldn't stop there, they'd just keep looking for more.
