The sky dimmed as the moon of Earth passed in front of Earth's parent star. Stars once hidden against the bright blue sky began to show themselves in their otherworldly glimmer. The darkness of night loomed over mid-day as two wolves stood there in the dim light, watching this once in a lifetime occurrence.
Riko, looked upon his younger boyfriend, watching him mesmerized by the awe inducing spectacular. He gazed upon Wulfgar, for a moment, almost seemingly like a painting, frozen in time. He reminisced the time they had together, all the good times and the bad ones. All the nights with Wulfgar snuggled up against his muscular furry chest. All the times when Wulfgar looked to him for comfort when he needed him. All the times when he would come home from a long trip and find Wulfgar waiting for him, giving him love and affection. How Wulfgar saved his life, saving him from a life of pain and misery. Loving a dark, cold, mean wolf and allowing him to find love and happiness that lay locked deep inside. Wulfgar didn't care. Wulfgar loved him for who he was.
Riko realized that this was the moment, the moment that he should ask Wulfgar, the only love he ever had, the love of his life, to be his husband, to be his mate.
"Wulfgar," said the studly older wolf.
"Yes Riko?" replied Wulfgar.
The two looked into each other's eyes.
"I love you so much Wulfgar. You have done so much for this old wolf and I don't know what I'd do without you. You are the love of my life and I don't ever want to lose you. I love you and you love me. I want to be more than just boyfriends. I want you to be my mate."
Wulfgar gasped as Riko knelt down and pulled a ring from his pocket.
"Wulfgar Marrok. Will you marry me?"
The sun's corona danced around the dark hidden moon, reflected in the eyes of the two lovers.
"Oh Riko! Yes Riko! Yes I will marry you!"
The two wolves embraced, rubbing their muzzles against one another and making out under the light of the eclipse.
As the star reemerged from it's mid-day slumber, Riko and Wulfgar looked forward to their future together.
