Strained Promises
Chapter 4
Pregnancy is rarely easy, and not just for the mother.
Time to get some things straightened out.
This is the main scene I had in mind when I started writing this story, so I spent a good bit of extra time on it, and not just because it's the longest chapter.

flyingwolf for getting me that game and for being my other main source of inspiration.

That's very nice of you to ask. The simple answer is, do I plan to do so? No, I don't. The longer answer...well, excuse me if I gush a little, but when people want to know about my OCs, I love to talk. When people want to know about my less popular OCs, I gush.
To get more into it, I do have some ideas for things that have happened that led up to the current points in the stories I've done of this setting so far, some of which I've put in the stories and some I haven't. Either way, there would be a lot of work to do to get anything like a plot skeleton that I would find useable. I don't have a problem with putting in the work, but the more important constraints are time and my pretty established writing habits.
To get to this point in the story, for instance, would ideally require telling the story of her first pregnancy, maybe with a bit of prologue of how they met and started getting to know each other, and then of the nearly eight years between when Freya was born and Kyrie conceived Jeremy's child. It would probably be something like a novel-length effort to do either of those and feel like I told everything worth telling, let alone doing it for both of them. I think you already see what I mean when I mention time concerns, and "novella" is the best I've done even after writing this long (and that's a lucky exception, when I can pull that off), so "novel" has always proven to be beyond my ability, both to plan things out and to stay focused on long enough to finish.
You might have noticed that I sneak details of their past into their stories. In particular, they talk about past events with the people they talk to that, were this more realistic, they probably wouldn't bring up or explain, since it's expected that whoever they're talking to knows what they're talking about. I do that so the readers have context, but I'm still cheating a little by doing more telling than showing.
Finally, there's the other issue of how their story is pretty basic. There's nothing wrong at all with slice of life, in fact I really admire people who pull it off well and I kind of write this to try to get better at it (to the point of being a little jealous of those who can do it), but I've found that the big trick with that genre is, when someone asks, "Who really cares about these normal people," getting people to answer, "I do."
Still, while I have found myself writing about these characters when I'd rather write about something else, it's satisfying to do it. I mainly write about them to practice the slice of life genre. At times, I've written about them to challenge myself to write a chapter, or a short story, in one day. In this story's case, I wrote to vent some negativity, to fill a need that I saw, and to challenge myself to write from a child's perspective. I'd say I did a decent job on all three goals.
I didn't intend for this story to be so long, but it came to me and wouldn't leave me alone until I finished it. So while I don't have plans, and in all honesty you shouldn't expect me to do a lot more with them, I can't say it's impossible, just pretty unlikely.
It flatters me you'd be interested, by the way, you might be the first person other than
flyingwolf who's asked about these characters.

I have a similar problem in terms of motivation and what I do write is usually spaced out by months at a time when the time gaps tend to be years or so in the overall story I'm writing. Then again, I feel like I'm always changing continuity and nature anyway from sci fi to more magical stuff recently. And it's not even with a fully consistent cast in mind as with the MLP ones I did and stopped dead, sadly.
