A commission for Newenglander
This is the first time I'm drawing these two, so I'll copy/paste the summary sent to me by the commissioner for those you enjoy reading about characters' backstories:
Paul, a kindly but socially-awkward/painfully-thin apothecary who stumbles on such a bottle while cleaning out a pharmacy warehouse. When offered his three wishes, he decides to take his time to plan out his requests carefully, but because he's so good-natured, he accidentally spends the first two on benefitting people who are far needier than he is. When he realizes that he's down to his last wish, he thinks about simply asking to be appreciated but gets nervous about something happening that he wouldn't be able to correct if it goes wrong. So he despairingly gives up and tells the djinn that it can use the wish for whatever it wants (as long as no-one is harmed by its granting). The djinn is flabbergasted, not only by being given a wish of its own but by Paul's unselfish actions earlier. In its experience, people have previously always made self-centered requests for power, wealth, beauty, etc., which has always resulted in their downfall (though by no direct fault of the djinn, who simply carries out the wishes to the letter). The djinn decides that it deserves to take a vacation from its job, and so it goes on a whirlwind tour of the entire world - and takes Paul along on the ride, both so that he can be the powerful-but-naïve genie's guide to the quirks of the 21st century and also to reward him.
I was asked to draw a scene with the djinn reading from a very long scroll (it's a list of all the places it wants to visit) and Paul looking stunned at its sheer length. I still had leeway with the poses so I decided to make the djinn float to add dynamism to the picture as well as contrast (magical being versus human). Anyhow, it was a fun piece to work on!
