In the western end of the Central Burying Ground on Boston Common there is a group of ~10 gravestones. Most are facing east rather than west. They're all from the first decade of the 1800s. The names are all Irish (i.e. Daly, Dooling, Fitzgerald). And - though they're all by different carvers - the iconography always involves a cross.
I'm wondering if they're very early Irish Catholic immigrant graves.
