Here we have a approximative aerial vision of the notorious Generic Wasteland. Land of the fittest. Home of the worst.
After the apocalypse, the wastes progressively divided itself into various areas with their own kind of folks, dangers and mysteries.
Ground Zero :
Where it all began. For once the apocalypse was caused by an asteroid and not nuclear weapons. The shock was strong enough for the planet to have yelled "OOF" if it had a mouth. Rumors started circulating around the space rock, which would hide extraterrestial forces within its core. Even decades after it landed, the asteroid is still hundreds of degrees hot and impossible to approach, therefore nobody can confirm these rumors yet.
The Great Nothing :
Absolutely nothing to see here. Well nothing but sand. This place is so full of nothing even clouds turn back when approaching it. Why would you even wander here.
The Divide :
An endless and massive storm that came to life when the boiling heat of the Great Nothing and the frozen blizzards of Cool World encountered. This place has everything you could find in Arkansas before the apocalypse. Rain, thunder, tornadoes, hail etc. Pretty dangerous to explore. Make sure you equip yourself properly before the wind claims you.
Cool World :
The coolest place around, but not in all ways. Cool World is so white you'll lose all your dancing talents after wandering here. If your grandma is still alive or if you adopted one, ask her to knit you a sweater and socks. Some scavengers claim to have found large research centers hiden within the mountains. Since then, rumors say the extreme climate of Cool World was created by a nuclear winter from scientists who wanted to contain something by freezing it.
The Crack :
Of course the asteroid had to land right next to one of the largest faults on the planet. Today this fault puts the great canyon to shame with its thousands of mile lenght and its yet unknown depth. Some say it is so deep it opened a breach to hell. These guys also wanted to name the canyon "Hell's Gate" but people prefered the Crack because it reminded them of butt cracks and they thought it was funny.
Nucleus :
You can't have a post-apocalyptic world without radiations. When the nuclear power plant got hit by the earthquakes, it didn't last long before bursting like a pop corn. The nuclear clouds it emitted spreaded all over the wastelend but the strong winds of the Divide managed to push them back Southwest. If you always wanted to attend a freak show and see abomination that would make David Cronenberg puke, this place is for you.
Voracious Jungle :
What used to be a central park for all the family ended up breathing a good dose of what Nucleus sent towards it. Everyone knows one of the most common effects of radiation is making things large. The jungle is here to prove it. It became a great place to gather food as you can find fruits larger than your mom, but you must know that in the Voracious Jungle, fruit eats YOU.
The stomping grounds :
Just like the plants of the Voracious Jungle, many people grew into ludicrous sizes after being exposed to radiations. Shortly, Nucleus was too small for them and lacked resources. Thankfully a little walk to the South (weeks of travel is your size didn't change) would give the now known as "giants" a decent place to live with lots of buildings full of food and construction materials. Giants also dug rivers towards the Voracious Jungle to keep it hydrated.
The city :
The Eldorado of all travelers of the Wasteland. This is where all dreams become true. With no authorities to yell at you what to do, who to make love with and where to shit, the East of the City bacame the hotspot of the wastes. Tensions sometimes rise between the people of the East and the giants of the West. As giants claim more and more of the city each day, you may not want to settle there indefinitely.
The Flood :
The most dangerous place of the wastes. Full of monsters, toxic waste and pirates... but also the whole South of the city, which has been barely explored. Who know what kind of treasures you'll find down there.
