What the HELL is going on? Is it some bug thing trying to eat panther dude's face, while a fox dude trying to stab the bug? Or is the fox dude riding on top of the bug thing and is trying to stab the panther dude while the bug thing is trying to eat panther dude's face? Or is the bug thing just giving the panther dude a friendly hug.. while trying to eat his face?? D:
In a way you were right in saying that it is an awkward pose, but you managed to pull it off well. Like the bug charged the panther guy and they're skidding along the ground, and the fox was a distance away and jumped onto the insect to stab/pull it off of the panther. The pose gives the picture a sense of motion, and I can actually see the scene happening in my head. Nicely done.
