Prompt: possible
“So, that’s it, then?”
“Yes, Mr. Fietelbaum.” The Syrian hamster wrung his paws as he looked over the stallion’s shoulder at the plans. “Can you do it? My client is adamant that she must have this.”
“Hmm.” The equine examined the design critically. “A bit more bracing here . . . it’ll be a good test of tensile strength, if nothing else.” He looked up at the hamster. “Yes, I think we can do it.”
“Splendid,” the hamster said, trying hard not to sigh in relief. “My client will be most happy, Mr. Fietelbaum,” and the two shook paws on the deal. “Now, regarding payment?”
Fietelbaum gave a slight cough and looked at the plans again. “I should think . . . ten thousand, as a down payment.” He quickly added as the rodent opened his mouth to protest, “I will have to take my staff off other projects, you want it in a week already, - and the down payment is non-negotiable and non-refundable.” He stood up, and although he was by no means a tall mel, he stood a head taller than the hamster. “Do we have a deal?”
The fellow swallowed hard. The horse must be very sure he could do it, and the potential final payment would, indeed, have to be commensurate with the effort. And there was the chance that Fietelbaum knew that his was the fifth visit the hamster had made. He sagged a little. “I will tell my client,” and he showed himself out.
As soon as the door closed the stallion immediately gathered up the drawings and walked quickly to the back room. “Stop everything, Nathan, and set everything aside. We just got a special project.”
Nathan, a cadaverously thin feline, blinked at him. “But – but the Rosen wedding – “
“Pfft the Rosen wedding,” Fietelbaum said, “the Rosen wedding is bupkis. We’re getting ten thousand down from that singer, whatshername, Darlene P_____!”
Nathan’s eyes went wide. “Morty! The one my daughter’s always talking about? The one with the size JJ bust?”
He nodded. “And get this – she wants a backless, strapless evening gown!” Fietelbaum’s eyes gleamed. “This will be our greatest challenge!”
