Chapter 1: Yearning something new
“Avo, are you awake?!”
My sister exclaimed as she was outside next to my door in the hallway. I got up lethargically and approached her. She asked me
“Do you realize what’s going on the news right now?”
“No, I am not fully aware of such news.” I answered.
Then she explained
“One hundred and ten morphs are rioting over this so called free speech, jobs, rights and excreta and they want to take it all away from us hard working humans!”
I again said nothing to support the claim but knew this was normal since this has happened to everyone and her claim and the news is rather an over statement and is considered fake news. I walked into the living room and my mother was watching what was going on like my sister said.
“I love my family including my mother, sister and the rest but I personally need to get myself out of here. This whole planet is going to hell in a hand basket!”
I spoke to myself in my head.
Later during the day, I went to my room and browsed online for random stuff to alleviate my tedious, annoying life. I suddenly bumped into an apartment sale relatively cheap, with an aggressive jobs program to get new immigrants to Chakona, though usually morphs are actively encouraged.
I suddenly even thought of becoming a morph cause I wanted to be more than what I am.
“Man, what would be going on my head by the time I make such a change to myself?”
I skulked around the Internet and browsed on webpages regarding the Oceanwalker process along with the immigration information and tickets aboard one of the starships to Chakona, I did countless research, with my family unaware of my plans. I looked at becoming a snow leopard morph, or a cougar one and felt they did not have all of the things I liked, though I love cats. Foxtaurs, canines and others were out of the question until I looked chakats.
“ A chakat huh?”
I said to myself. I just felt like sticking with it. Stuff like two additional hearts, talents like empathy alongside with other talents, speed agility and more. The only problem was I had no idea what I would call myself. I pondered for a few days and then, “I got it! I’ll call myself Chakat Avocado!” I exclaimed in my head.
Later that day, I knew that I was going to be a shi for now on, but I had other problems like money and a job. Luckily, I had some friends who were willing to lend me a hand with financial matters since some of them were deep pocketed. I turned to one of them and his name was Allen Junior, and was a fox morph. He happened to be the son of a father, who inherited a space delivery company that shipped packages to interstellar locations beside the Chakona system.
Once I heard of the offer, I offered something in return soon after but he turned it down,
“You are going through too much and you need help from us. Thank you for the offer, but I’ve got something more valuable, which is you as a friend I can help and look after.”
Said Allen. I myself felt flattered and accepted the financial help and went with it.
“Allen, you do also realize that if I leave without letting my family know of this, they could get quite worried and if I shed my human body for a chakat one, I may not be accepted for who I look like on the outside.”
Allen then replied and assured,
“Avo, don’t worry about that, time will eventually be on our side. I’m sure they’ll learn to accept you as they’re one and only son/daughter. Heh, you might even be able to lend a hand, or two; or even three?”
So therefore, I was pretty much dead set now. I looked at the stuff going on Terra and noticed life is not very exciting as it is and always wanted an interesting new life. If this was what needed to be done, then let it be.
